Nau mai, hoki mai e te whānau...
It is hard to believe that we are half way through the last term of the year. The next few weeks will go really quickly and there are lots of things happening so please continue to check notices, emails, and important dates. A couple of events I would like to highlight here is our final end of year prize giving assembly on Wednesday 6 December and our whole school sports (athletics) fun day on Monday 11 December. This sports day event is our athletics day but with a variety of other activities planned. We would love to see lots of whānau at school celebrating and supporting our students for these two events - mark the date in your calendar.
This will be the last newsletter for the term. If you haven't already, I strongly recommend that you download Skool Loop from the app store on to your mobile and add our school so you don't miss any messaging coming from the school. You can also use this app to read the school newsletter and report an absent student.
Thank you to everyone that supported our Garden to Table Seedling sale and disco. We raised over $700 to go towards this amazing programme. This programme is teaching our students how to grow, harvest, prepare and share great food. We are very lucky to have Garden to Table in our school and we really want to see it continue and be available to even more of our students so that they can learn these valuable life skills. We still need the help of volunteers in order for this to happen so if you can spare a couple of hours on a Friday to support our students we would love to hear from you. No experience necessary!
Teacher only day
Our planned Teacher only day is happening on Monday 13 November - please do not send your child to school that day as we will not be onsite to start the day. All new students starting school for the last cohort entry will start on Tuesday 14th November.
Roadworks information update for the coming weeks:

Roadworks information update for the coming weeks:
- Works to the footpath/berm and line marking have been completed on Oliver Street. Please use this new parking space when picking up and dropping off children rather than our bus turning bay.
- New kerb extensions, footpath/berm works, stormwater drainage and line marking have commenced on Whittaker Street and will carry through until 13 November, 2023
Work areas will be coned / blocked off. Road (tip / concrete) trucks and earthworks machinery will be operating along with personnel using cutting saws / compactors / hand tools.
Please be aware of this when dropping your child off or picking them up at school. We need to keep our tamariki safe during these times so sensible parking is requested in spaces that give you plenty of viewing for children crossing the road.
Please use side streets for drop offs and pick ups. The bus bay will soon no longer be available to use for this purpose.

Planned power outage:
In the first newsletter of the term we had notified you about a planned power outage at the school and that we were waiting to confirm whether this would result in the closure of the school for the day. Thankfully Waipa Networks have confirmed that we will be provided with a generator for the day so the school will be able to remain open.
Transport Survey
There will be a survey coming home shortly from the Waipa District Council regarding transport to and from school. Part of this survey will help to gather data for a bicycle at school safety programme. Please take the time to complete this survey and return it to the school office. We have a prize for the class with the most survey's returned.
Staffing for 2024
Next year we have some changes coming with regards to staff. It is with great sadness we will not have Whaea Sandra Curnow in Room 3 as a full time teacher. She is moving towards working less days but will still be available as a reliever for special projects and small groups across the school such as Being my Best. We are currently advertising for a new teacher for Room 3 and will let you know when we have made an appointment.
Other teachers will be working in the following classroom spaces:
